Our project team was tasked with designing a 4-story parking garage as part of a multi-stage master plan effort for Atrium Health.
Our first rounds of facade exploration informed us of the owner's preference for two of our designs; a green wall system and a louvre system depicting the Smoky Mountain range. The studies that followed were focused on finding the best proportion of the two skin systems on the structure.
The grading on the site made entrance into the structure at one level difficult, causing severe ramping to take up a portion of the ground floor parking footprint. My responsibilities included design and coordination of the two skin systems (green wall and Smoky Mountain louvre system) with our metal fabrication team.
We worked with metal fabricator to ensure the project came within budget with the high level of design and large quantity of metal on the facade.
